How to Disable Vista CD/DVD Burning Feature

The huge majority of computer users are using burning software such as Nero or some other free alternative burning tools to handle their CD/DVD burning jobs even though Windows Vista has a built in CD/DVD burning feature. So how can you remove this feature since you are not using it?

You can remove this by following this simple registry hack. This will remove the burn button on your toolbar that you never use.

Open your Registry Editor by going into starmenu search and typing “regedit” and navigate to following keys.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

On the right hand panel create a new 32-bit DWORD and the following values.

  • Name: NoCDbruning
  • Value: 1

Logout to see the changes. To remove, just delete the key or change the value to 0.
