How to configure Zyxel P-600 series with PLDT MyDSL
This guide will help you configure your zyxel router to enable its routing capabilities so you can be able to share the internet connection without using a router.
There is no need to follow this guide if you have a separate router like linksys, dlink, edimax, tplink, etc. all configuration should be done on your router, leave your modem alone… default modem settings is bridge mode.
Although you can follow this guide, set your modem to router mode and still use a separate router, but that would result in a double router connections. that also means double port forwarding rules.
You may need to set a static IP address on your computer first before you can access the web config.
computer IP: 192.168.1.33
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.1.1
save settings and reboot.
after restarting, on your web browser type 192.168.1.1
you need to login as an admin account on your modem to be able to see and make changes to these settings… otherwise you would only see the status page… use this username/password to login as admin.
Username: admin
Password: 1234
then follow the screenshots to guide you…
this is the status page when in bridge mode… take note of VPI / VCI value here and use it on the next configuration page…
Go to Network / WAN / Internet Connection TAB
metro-manila area
Mode: Routing
Encapsulation: ENET ENCAP
Multiplexing: LLC

Mode: Routing

then click Obtain an IP Address Automatically
click Apply
if unsure about your VPI/VCI settings in your area, call 172 and ask…
go to Network / LAN / IP TAB
IP Address: 192.168.1.1
IP Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
click Apply
go to Network / LAN / DHCP Setup TAB
DHCP: Server
IP Pool Starting Address: 192.168.1.100
Pool Size: 32
click Apply
optional:
you can also enter your preferred DNS server if you want like OpenDNS…
OpenDNS Servers
Primary: 208.67.222.222
Secondary: 208.67.220.220
go to Network / NAT / General TAB
check Active Network Translation (NAT)
check SUA Only
click Apply
go to Maintenance / Tools / Restart TAB
then restart to make the new configuration take effect…
after restarting, you can check the status page of your modem to verify the settings…
the screenshot above is what your status page should look like when in router mode…
the System Status is already in routing mode, and the Device Information now shows your IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway and the DHCP server is now active…
above values are just an example, you could set your own values like in IP starting address and pool size, etc…
after this, you can change your computer back to Dynamic IP Address if you like…
The above screenshots were taken from a working connection that means if it doesn’t work for you, it’s either you are doing something wrong or you didn’t follow the guide completely… in that case, go back to step 1 and try again.
if it doesn’t work out, try hard resetting your modem, hold the reset switch at the back of your modem for a few seconds then try following the guide again.

Yes. kelangan routing mode yung zyxel mo bago makag-share ng internet. try mo din baka lan card issue. pero i-set mo muna yung zyxel into routing mode.
sir ayaw talaga gumana pag nakakabit na ung isang pc, baka sa lancard ko na ung problem.
kc ganun din ginawa ng ibang kilala ko. so ung problem is the hardware.

Naka-routing mode na ba yung Zyxel mo? kung routing mode na yung zyxel, i think it should work fine unless you have a failing hardware.
na set ko na po sya into routing mode.. ano po ggwin ko pagkatapos ma set? lan card po ba gagamitin ko or yung sa motherboard port? tnx..
connect mo yung zyxel mo sa kahit na alin sa mga pc ports ng isa mo pang router wag dun sa wan port
sir slave follow ko up po question ni napoleon ramirez who is my brother. we r trying to configure the thomson TG585 v7 with my pldt mydsl para meron kami wifi sa house. kaya lang sakit na po ulo namin pero still hindi namin magawa. na re recognize po yung wifi pero wala naman po internet connection. sabi po ng customer service hindi daw compatible ang thomson sa kanila. logical po ba ang sinasabi na yun?

Posible ung sinabi nila. may mga router nga na hindi compatible sa zyxel, even linksys got some issues with zyxel. sa Dlink router lang ako hindi nagkaroon ng kahit na anong problema.

when i enter 192.168.1.1 on the address bar, the log-in page does appear.
however, there is no box for username. only a box for password appears. thus, i can’t log-in as an admin.

unfortunately pldt techs configured it that way so the settings will not be altered. only them can logon as admin.

Puwedeng cable gumamit lang sila ng bridge o kaya gumgamit sila ng software tulad ng Hamachi para makapag LAN kahit malayo.

oo puwede flash drive. kelangan at least 1gb ung flash drive mo o mas maganda kung mga 2gb. marami makikita sa google kung pano mag-install ng XP gamit ang flash drive. kapag nagkaron ako ng time gawa ako ng simpleng steps tungkol dun.
anu dapat ang pool size? the higher the faster or the lower the faster?
follow the default na lang. kung mas marami pa 32 yung bibigyan ng ip then dagdagan mo pool size.
Thanks to your guide. My pc and my landlord’s pc are now using same router and pldt modem. How will i see my landlord’s pc in the My Network Places? Do i need to do something with the router?
i plan to share folders and dvdrom drive in my pc so my landlord can access them using his own pc.
you don’t have to do anything on your router, you just have to enable sharing if you want to share your files, drives or cd-rom. to share files follow the steps below
1. right click on the drive/cd-rom/folder or any files
2. select properties
3. click on the sharing tab
4. check “Share this folder on the network”
5. your done… they can now access your shared files from other computer on the network. do this also on the other computer.
6. if you want an access to modify the shared files, put a check on “Allow network users to change my files”

Hi slavezero! do you know how to set-up Zyxel P-600 series and serve as my server on the internet. i installed apache on my PC and i dont know how to make it live on the internet? i saw some tutorial which says that i need to configure my router first (I dont know if this Zyxel P-600 series MODEM could act also as a router and configured to be my server).

yes its possible. just modify the sua/nat settings. if you’re running a webserver put port 80. save and reboot your modem. for users to connect just give them your static ip to connect to your system via http:// over port 80.

for users to connect just give them your static ip to connect to your system via http:// over port 80.

yung nasa guide ko ay paraan kung paano isetup yung local static IP meaning yung ip ng local computer mo. there is no way para ma-setup yung pldt IP mo. pldt lang ang may kakayahan na baguhin yun. business accounts ang alam kong my static na ip. Go to Network –> Advanced –> NAT dyan ka makakapag-setup ng port forwarding.

huwag mo i-connect mo yung zyxel mo sa wan port ng isa mo pang router, i-connect mo siya sa local computer ports. gawin mo na lang switch yung isa mo pang router at yung zyxel ang main router nagkakaron kasi sila ng conflict.
hello slavezero, how do i modify my SUA/NAT setting? I did follow your guide on how to setup zyxel, but i dont know if that was enough for me to show my website on the internet. Are there any other settings I should do? Where should i put port 80 and what static IP should i give to my friends to view my website?(is it the static IP i configured on my local computer) Please help me set-up mine… I dont know what to put on the fields seen in “Network->Advanced->NAT”, There are these following fileds:
1) Default Server Setup
2) Port Forwarding
– Service Name
– Server IP Address
So you are planning to establish your own webserver at home. it will be more complicated than what I’ve told you. you also need to register a domain name but not required. The most important thing you must have is an Apache HTTP server (this is free and stable and I highly recommend) installed on your computer. however, you can still setup a web server using IIS check this tutorial How to setup Webserver using IIS update me for any progress.

Hello again slavzero… i prefer to use apache rather than that of IIS. I recently installed XAMPP on my computer. It already has apache on it.. I believe the only thing to do now is to configure my modem/router with port forwarding mode to be able to show my web page to the internet. Can you guide me on how to configure my zyxel p-600 series to enable its port forwarding capability please… I really like to know how to do that. Even if it is complicated still please teach me… =)

Help. My level one router was working fine. But yesterday when i got back from home, it seems that my pc restarted and i can’t connect through the router anymore. I can connect directly using my pldt modem but not through my router using same configuration i did before.
I can connect to the router and can enter its configuration through firefox. I can even change password,update my router firmware, etc. Tried using other ports in my router still i can’t connect. Please help.
Have you updated your router’s firmware? Try hard reseting you router see if it works or rollback to it’s previous firmware.
Yes i upgraded my router’s firmware and it was working last week after i upgraded it. I tried resetting it by pressing the reset button. but still it didn’t work. I will try to repeat the process again. Any other suggestions that i could try please?

Did you also check your Zyxel? have you tried other computer or tested other router on zyxel? check also your computer, if you are using local static ip try to use “obtain automatically” see if it makes a difference
Nope. Hard resetting the router (everything was reset even the password) and rolling it back to its previous firmware didn’t work.
Hello slavezero… Im done reading the infos on the site you shared me. I tried to apply all the configuration as I read it. But i still dont get why my home server doesn’t shows up to the internet. I already configure port forwarding on my zyxel modem/router but still nothing happen. Do you have some idea on what could be the probable cause of this problem? I definitely followed all the steps on the guide that you gave me.

port forward Port 80 (port 80 is for web server)… you can set it up under network -> advanced -> nat
how will i check my Zyxel? If i connect my zyxel directly which im doing now, its working fine. I don’t have a spare router with me. I already tried to use “obtain automatically” but still can’t connect.
I will bring my router to the office and test it there. We are behind firewall there but im not really familiar. I dont know how will i test it there. I will also try to connect later using my landlord’s pc. Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated.
try to hard reset you zyxel… then re-configure it again. just make sure that zyxel is not on the wan port of your router. Try also to use a switch/hub instead of your router and see if it works.
will hard reseting my zyxel erase the configuration made by pldt in my modem? if things come to worst, which is better to buy router or switch? Switch is cheaper i think.
Maybe my zyxel was associated with my lancard MAC address? It seems that my router is not communicating properly with my modem. I will try again to tinker with it this evening when i get home.
there are certain routers that have issues with Zyxel… Dlink is the only router that I’ve never heard of any problem or any issues with zyxel. It’s much better to buy a switch. besides, you are also using your router as a switch so why buy another router. I recommend DLink or cnet switch. I tested them both and it works perfectly with Zyxel.
hard resetted the zyxel modem. waited for 10 minutes. hard resetted the router. waited for 10 minutes. connecte the lan card. turn on the pc. still can’t connect
have you tried another router? try disabling dhcp of your router. try also using a switch instead of a router. maybe the problem is on your router not with your zyxel he can’t properly communicate with zyxel.
ethernet was constantly blinking in the router. In my router web configurator, its says gateway unreachable.

you don’t have to do anything with your router… just plug your zyxel to any local port of your router not the wan router
i disable the dhcp of the router. connect the lancard to port3 then connect the zyxel to port1. wan port is vacant. LAN Connection says that i have limited connection with a ! icon. My zyxel is now in router mode.
its working now. zyxel in router mode. router in switch mode(dhcp enabled). thanks for assisting. im glad there’s no need for me to buy new a switch

. it’s because both your router and Zyxel (which is in router mode) are both providing gateway ip and that’s where all the complications starts.

I believed its the IP shown when I visit http://www.whatismyip.com right? I dont know what to do next, maybe its has hardware requirements thats why my computer cannot act as a web server. you need at least 256mb ram and a fast internet connection.

I got zyxel (router mode) and level one router/switch(switch mode). My problem is every time there is a brownout or power interruption, I can’t connect anymore after the power is back. I need to hard reset my level one switch before i could connect. Is there a way so that i will not reset my switch every time there is power interruption? Is there a guide specifically for PLDT zyxel modem on how to turn on PC using WOL via internet? Could you make one slavezero? There are guideline in the net but i can’t make them work
That’s very odd… that’s the first time I’ve heard of that kind of issue. Try specifying a fix local ip and gateway.

Hi slavezero, I am not sure wether opening my port 80 on the router is safe or not? i read some info on the site you gave me and saw this easy to install Active Port software. but when i tried it, it show every IP that connects to my computer. I dont know what this thing can do. Do you have any idea on this.
And also I would like to know if anyone can hack my computer even if my apache webserver is not active? Can hackers enter my computer, cause I did open my port 80 on the router, does it mean they can still connect?
no one is really safe from hackers. but you can make it so much harder for them if you got the latest and updated antivirus and firewall protection. The best thing you can do is use a linux os for your webserver.

you mean even when i stop my apache webserver service, they can still go on to my computer?
yes. there is always a big possibility for that. my computer has been hacked numerous times. the last time was he took all the girls pictures on my drive and uses against me and my girlfriend

karereformat lang ng pc ko..and everytime i switch on my ZyXEL P-600 nag poprompt sya na limited connection lang..repairing it solves the problem..pero nababagalan ako sa dl speed ko..sabi kasi sa speedtest.net up to .50mbps dl speed ko..and plan 512mbps ung inavail ko sa pldt…pero ung dl speed ko kalimitan sa firefox umaabot lang ng 50kbps..sa torrent naman kahit maraming seeds 60+kbps lang..,ang layo sa sinasabi ng pldt na upto 512 kbps…pati ng speedtest.net…hindi ko nmn hangad ung full speed e..,kaya lang parang sobrang baba naman nung dl speed ko..nakaka inis..btw im from batangas…san kaya ung problem? .thanks
Try mo n i-manual setup ung IP mo. gamit ka rin ng opendnds s DNS mo. May epekto din kasi ung bilis ng connection mo sa cables, layo at sa dami ng subscriber sa lugar niyo.

there are few possibilities…
1 your zyxel might be dead, just like you suspect,
2 your ISP device is not working,
3 you don’t have an internet connection
try checking those 3 possibilities

i already turn off the computer. still the internet light and ethernet keep on blinking
it’s because it’s still connected to the internet even if your computer is turned off and sometimes those are just leftover energies that powers up the LED’s

Ang isa pang way ay ICS( internet connection sharing) pero kelangan mo pa rin ng pangalawang lan card. ang downside ay kelangan nakabukas palagi yung server computer para makapag-internet yung isang computer.

siguro kelangan mo yang i-request mismo s PLDT. Hassle nga nama kung kelangan mo pa i-dial. Your zyxel is maybe not configured to perform DHCP. Kung maaccess mo yung zyzxel mo try mo iset cya dhcp baka naka ppoe that needs dialing up.
in regards to hacking, Yes, posible na ma-hack yung speed, pero pldt mismo ang iha-hack which is close to impossible kung magawa man malalaman din nila at puwede nila automatic i-ban yung account mo or worst magsampa sila ng kaso.

Hindi mo rin kelangan ng router kung isa lang naman computer mo. mag-ra-router ka lng kung ishe-share mo yung connection mo. Pero puwede kang gumamit ng para siya na mag automatic na mag-dial ng connection mo pero mas expensive kasi bibili ka pa ng router. Mas maganda pa rin na request mo sa PLDT na palitan setup ng account mo libre pa! hehehe

…hmmmm, paano ko ma access settings ng zyxel ko?..di ako marunong eh..hehehe….at tsaka, hindi ba dahil sa modem nawawala wala ang internet ko?..nakakainis na kasi eh..hehe…nag punta na ang PLDT d2 kahapon…pero wala ako d2 eh, may pasok, ate ko lang ang nag entertain, kaya ung mga questions ko hindi ko na ask…and btw, whats the differenece bwtween DHCP and PPoPE?…ung di lang idadayal na?…and cguro nga PPOPE e2, kasi kung mag dial ako, and nakalagay “Connectiong to WAN Miniport PPoPE”….
read my instructions above, it will help you regarding accessing zyxel. Ang DHCP automatic na nagbibigay o naga-aasign ng dynamic na IP sa lahat ng computer sa network… DHCP and kelangan mo na setup kung gusto mo na automatic ang connection. PPPoE ay protocol na kelangan na magdial para maka-connect sa ibang network o makakuha ng internet connection.
sir need your help.. i can’t access my zyxel P-600 series GUI so i can change it to router mode but everytime i tried it says page cannot be displayed.. any info will be appreciated.. thank’s in advance..
have you tried setting up your IP to static? your local ip should be static before you can be able to access zyxel configuration page

ang modem ko po ay zyxel p-600, 2mbps ang speed ng connection ko, meron po ako 11 pc including na yung server.
2 lang yan… either may multo sa shop niyo dahil sa gabi lang siya dc o kaya may problem yung zyxel mo. request ka na agad for replacement.

Hi slave gud day… Pede po ask? myron ako internet cafe 60 units yong dsl ko is 3.5mb & yong modem ko is Zyxel P600 yong malaki, new replace sya kc nag loko na yong luma, & yong router ko din is bago kc nasira na rin yong luma, bali yong router ko is D-Link DIR 655 one week palang, ang question ko is sometimes yong latency ko is umaabot ng 4000ms kahit wala nmn gaanong Internet activities or wala rin nag da download, ang nagiging problem kc is pag tumaas yong latency nya na di dc yong internet connection tapos kusa sya nag re resume, pero pag normal yong conncetion ang bilis bilis nya sa sa browsing & online games, pag normal nmn ang latency nya is umaabot lng sa 200ms kahit maraming mga naka OL games. Ang set-up pala ng DSL ko is naka PPPoE sa router, yong router ko pala hnd ko ina upgrade yong firmware na try ko na rin i reset & yong settings na ginalaw ko sa router is yong sa PPPoE lng the rest is defult settings lang. Wala rin akong virus malinis yong system ko kc na try ko i scan so far wla nmn virus & bagong reformat lang lahat saka naka deefreze ako, my OS is windows XP. Saan po kaya ang posible na problem nito na itawag ko na rin kc ito sa 172 kaso wala parin ngyayari. Pls help nmn po kong my idea ka kung saan ang problem nito. Tnx!
na-Try mo na i-test sa single pc? check mo kung magkakaron ka rin ng latency spike. kung hindi baka isa sa mga units mo ang nagko-cause ng latency spike. try mo din i-check yung wireless settings mo, minsan nasa wireless yung problem

hi kuya, ung dsl po namin, pldt. ung modem namin, zyxel (ung binibigay ng pldt pag nagpapakabit). ayun, ok naman sya. pero gusto ng tita ko na maka-sagap ng internet namin, so bumili sya ng router (CNet car-854 wireless-g ADSL2/2+ router with 4-ports switch). galing lng sya ng cd-r king. ayun, sinet-up ko sya, kinabit ko yung dsl line dun sa router mismo, tas nag-setup ng DHCP connection… (bale hindi na ginagamit ung zyxel ngaun) nakaka-connect naman sya. kaso lagi syang nadi-disconnect, mga after every 1.5 hrs, madi-dc… tinry ko gawin yung instructions mo, kaso ayaw nya mag-connect… bale ung dsl line, nakakabit sa zyxel, tas ung zyxel kinabit ko sa 1 port nung CNet gamit ung ethernet cable, tas ung PC na gamit ko ngaun, kinabit ko sa 1 pang port ng CNet gamit 1 pang ethernet cable… ano po kaya pwede ko gawin? thanks!
san mo kinabit ung zyxel s cnet mo? huwag mo ikabit ung zyxel s WAN port s local port mo lang ilagay. preho kc silang router kaya magkakaron sila ng conlflict ang result mdi-disconnect ka tlga or puwede mo din idisable ung DHCP ng cnet mo pero mas madali kung illipat mo na lang ng port

I-routing mode mo yung zyxel mo then Switch mode lang yung linksys. ang IP ay yung IP na binigay sa iyo tapos ang subnet mask ay 255.255.255.0.

nun una nagtaka ako kc mostly dumadaan pa ang router sa dsl modem (zyxel or any dsl modem) pero etong router na binigay sa aken is direct connected sa telephone line. parang zyxel din ang setup ng cabling, may telephone line, lan connection and un adapter. ang naiba lang dun sa linksys na ginagamit ko is meron na rin cia na wireless connection.
about naman kung panu ko napagana un WAG54GS.
dapat ganito ang setup.

virtual circuit : 0 – 100
then un the rest of configuration is depende na lang sau. basta etong 2 na configuration is nakaset.

Ganito po kc yun, I applied for pldt mydsl business plan and I bought a switch/hub para makapag share ung internet sa 2 unit lang naman. at first it works after a while bigla na lang nawawala ung internet sa isang computer. Nakaconfigure po ba ung zyxel sa bridge lang? Di rin ako makalog-in sa main ip address ng zyxel pr makita if nasa bridge lang ung configuration, if ever po ba kung gagawin ko ung mga steps above, puede ko na maconfigure ung zyxel?

usually 192.168.1.1 ang IP ng zyxel mo pero try mo ding 192.168.2.1. if ever na ma-access mo ung zyxel mo 100% mase-share mo ung connection mo.

Sir.. ask lng ako if anung klasing switch peding gamitin d2.. naka routing na kc ung PLDT ZyXEL P-600 series ko, and then im using CNET 5-port switch,, and ang prolema ko lang.. isa lang PC ang pede maka connect sa net.. ung isang PC ayaw talaga mag connect… pero ti-try ko na direct connection (w/out the switch) ung dalawang PC.. ok naman po ang ung NET… Off then firewall.. thankz in advance

Na-try mo na i-tunnel? kung na-try mo na i-tunnel tpos hindi nag-work baka na-block ng router mo garena. try mo mg-port forward para mabigyan ng access garena.
Try mo add sa exception ng firewall mo yung bitcomet, mag-add ka rin ng ports between 49152-65534. kung may antivirus ka add mo rin siya sa trusted applications. kapag hindi pa rin mag-download ka na lang directly sa modem mo. Update mo ako kung ano nangyari.
dahilan lang nila yun para hindi sila malugi dahil 1 account 1 PC lang yung residential plan nila. pero hindi kayang utakan yung mga pinoy na gustong makatipid

what is the exact problem you are experiencing? when you already configure your zyxel then there is no need to configure your linksys router… in fact you don’t need that router anymore because your zyxel is already a router

hindi naman, ang tagal tagal ko nang gumagamit ng deepfreeze wala namang problem sa mga unit ko. depende lang yun sa maintenance ng computer mo. Kung na-deepfreeze mo siya na masama lagay ng computer habang buhay na mabagal computer mo unless format mo ulit siya. kaya nga advice ko sa iyo clean format at install ka bago lagay ng deepfreeze at gamit ka rin ng ccleaner, the best cleaner at registry optimizer yan libre pa. search mo dito sa pcremix yang ccleaner.
Puwede mo naman iselect yung mga applications na ilalagay mo. pero hindi ako gumagamit ng mga slipstream na installers gusto ko pa rin yung mga traditional na installer para sa computer ko, sa mga clients ko lang ginagamit yung may mga naka slipstream para mabilis matapos.

Definitely not. it doesn’t matter where you are, openDNS will help you speed up your browsing experience, not only that, opendns has lot’s of services available like site filtering. read my post about opendns on how it can make you secure and how it can speed up your web browsing . however, if PLDT is far from your place then you might not get the maximum speed your current plan can offer.
No, believe me and trust me. router will distribute the bandwidth evenly on all the PC’s (but I only recommend 10 to 15 pc per 1mpbs speed). not unless, a certain pc is downloading or watching video streams like on youtube, veoh etc. then that pc will eat most of the bandwidth making it slower for the remaining pc’s. I am handling computer shops, some of them had only 384kbps speed (smartbro) and they have 10 units, how much do you think a single pc can have? 38.4? bro.. it’s just a dialup net speed, you can’t browse any sites with that speed nowadays, router helps them spread it evenly so customers can still open sites.

Yes, unless you use a bandwidth shaper or limiter. bandwidth limiter tools are use to limit the bandwidth allotted on every PC on your network. this is pretty much advisable if you frequently download stuffs and use p2p programs such as limewire and other users are sharing with your internet. but with a 1.5mbps speed I think you should be fine.

Yes the number of subscribers and how far you are from pldt can affect your speed. other factors also are your lan card, your computer (how optimize and clean your pc is), the dsl cable.
I recommend netlimiter. but you can search for any other alternatives. use the keyword “free bandwidth shaper” you can find lots of them. but netlimiter is the most used, especially on internet cafe’s.

you’ve done your part, sa tingin ko sa part na ng PLDT yung problema. it’s either palitan ka nila ng router/modem o ilipat k nila sa mas stable na connection.

Kinakain kasi ng nagda-download o nanonood ng video sa youtube o kahit na anong video o audio streaming ang bandwidth. Ibig sabihin din nun sa kanya lahat napupunta yung internet connection kaya bumabagal at lag yung mga games. ang puwede mong gawin ay gumamit ng bandwidth shaper o limiter. search k s google gamitin mo keyword “free bandwidth limiter” o kaya gamti ka ng netlimiter, para i-limit nya yung bandwidth na gagamitin ng isang computer para hindi din madamay yung ibang computer.

Na-modify mo na ba yung zyxel na maging router? kung na-modify mo na gamitin mo na lang yung dlink mo not as router but as a switch na lang. i-connect mo yung zyxel mo sa pc ports hindi dun sa wan port o internet.
